イギリスでの研究滞在

2月初旬から3月中旬まで、私は客員教授としてイギリスのヨーク大学に滞在しました。大学院の国際宿舎に宿泊し、隣人はインド、パキスタン、中国、イギリス出身の大学院生でした。彼らが私のために歓迎パーティーを開いてくれた際、それぞれ異なるイントネーションで英語を話していたのがとても印象的でした。言葉はコミュニケーションの一部に過ぎず、笑顔や優しさ、温かさこそが、文化や宗教の異なる友人との交流を深めるうえで大切なのだと実感しました。ヨークでの滞在は、多様な文化に対する私の視野を大きく広げてくれました。

From early February to mid-March, I stayed at the University of York in England as a visiting professor. I lived in the graduate school's international housing, where my neighbors were graduate students from India, Pakistan, China, and England. When they hosted a welcome party for me, I found it fascinating that each of them spoke English with their own distinct intonations. This experience made me realize that language is only one aspect of communication; smiles, kindness, and warmth play an essential role in connecting with friends from different cultural  and religious backgrounds. My stay inYork, England, broadened my perspective on diverse cultures.
